AI company Anthropic, the developer of the Claude family of large language models, has reached a $183 billion valuation following its latest funding round — a dramatic increase from the start of the year that underscores the accelerating growth of AI applications.
The company Tuesday that it closed a $13 billion Series F round co-led by venture firms ICONIQ Capital, Fidelity Management & Research Company and Lightspeed Venture Partners.
Some of North America’s most prominent investors also joined the raise, reflecting the surge in institutional interest in artificial intelligence as a disruptive technology.
Backers included Altimeter, Baillie Gifford, Coatue, Goldman Sachs Growth Equity, Jane Street, T. Rowe Price Investment Management, Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan and funds affiliated with BlackRock.
The $183 billion valuation is more than three times higher than , when it closed a $2 billion fundraiser. While the company is still working to commercialize its tech, its revenue run rate has already surpassed $5 billion, and it now counts more than 300,000 business customers — figures that help justify its soaring valuation.
Anthropic’s ties to the blockchain industry are limited, though one of its earliest backers was FTX, the collapsed crypto exchange founded by Sam Bankman-Fried. FTX acquired a 7.8% equity stake in Anthropic in 2022. Following its collapse, in the AI development company in 2024.

In the crypto industry, Claude has already been adopted by some of the sector’s largest exchanges. Coinbase uses Claude to bolster customer support and internal operations, while Crypto.com on Claude 3 models via Amazon Bedrock to deliver real-time sentiment analysis across global markets.
Anthropic Coinbase’s deployment of Claude has allowed the exchange to serve millions of users, process thousands of messages per hour and sharply reduce customer service handling times.
Some industry observers argue that artificial intelligence will play a foundational role in the cryptocurrency sector, providing one of the few viable ways for firms to ensure compliance in a market defined by uninterrupted, round-the-clock trading.
